EXAMPLE 1: CARTHIONA WHITE
The querent is not related to her personally so Carthiona White is L7. Here we find typical testimonies for somebody taking her own life and for related psychological cause or state.
Question: what was the cause of her death?
Venus, L7, is found inside the turned 12th cusp, of self-harm. L12, of self-harm, in turn, is found inside house 7 not far from the cusp, obviously in mutual reception. Translation: she and self-harm are “friends” or are deeply in resonance.
The North Node is right on the 7th cusp giving her power to act and a favorable outcome in whatever she intends within the context. Some people attempt suicide and fail. Here we have a chart where failure is not indicated, quite the opposite.
Were we close to the quesited personally we could unravel the meaning of Mercury, being so close to the Sun; and Mars and possibly Jupiter, being in her house 12. We are not, so there is nothing to be said about them.
Saturn, however is a typical force in suicide as it is the natural ruler of depression and negative psychological states. Here Saturn aspects the 7th cusp, possibly and likely indicating that such state was present on her death.
EXAMPLE 2: KEITH EMERSON
The querent is a fan of Emerson so he is L7. Here the testimonies are not so typical, except for Saturn’s influence again. Yet the chart is remarkably eloquent about details of the situation.
The question was: did he commit suicide? As the news mentioned that that might be the case.
L12 of self-harm is right inside the turned 8th cusp. This shows self-harm “influenced his death”. That answers the question. But there is more. Turned L12 is Mars in a fire sign eloquently depicting harm by a fire arm.
Jupiter, turned L8 of his death, is in his house 12 by antiscion, not far from the cusp. We have a second link between self-harm and his death.
The North Node is on the turned 12th cusp by antiscion, again, as in Carthiona White’s chart, lending power and favorable outcome to the matters of that house. If self-harm involved carrying out a suicide then that will likely not fail.
Saturn is not only in the turned 8th house, influencing his death, but is conjunct Fortuna, showing that Saturn is deeply connected to the core of the question: suicide. So, we have that dark psychological state present again.
Venus is in the last degree of a fixed sign ruled by Saturn showing a possible long and “fixed” period of such depression. It has been reported that Keith Emerson had been depressed due to a neurological problem which weakened his hands and which hindered his creative/personal expression. We can only imagine how that might upset a virtuoso pianist like him.
Venus is depressed in Aquarius (ruled by Saturn) and at the same time dislikes the state of his hands (Sun’s detriment), the Sun, which rules the last part of the turned house 3 (his hands). The sun is peregrine, conjunct the South Node and on the turned 6th cusp by antiscion: weak/sick hands.
The Sun doubles as the ruler of the central nervous system. And Mercury, the ruler of nerves is in detriment and fall, doubling as the ruler of his house 5 of creativity and artistry. Mercury is sharply opposite his house 5 cusp. A rather clear picture of the reported situation leading to his decision to take his own life.
