The querent’s partner’s daughter is exhibiting mental problems ranging from extreme OCD to paranoia and suicidal thoughts. She is currently taking anti-depressant medications.
Before delving into the horary below let’s take a look at a section of her birth chart while keeping in mind that she has a strongly unbalanced choleric temperament. She was born too hot and too dry. Fire.
I want to draw attention to Mercury as it is right inside the 6th cusp, and Venus, L6 in house 4. Mercury hints at potential illnesses of a Mercurial nature and Venus of a Venusian nature. What illnesses exactly, is impossible to say looking at a birth chart. (Astrologers who dare to specify are, in my opinion, out of their minds.) Venus has also another connotation, which we will see in the horary below.
Also to be noted: Mars is her Lord of the Geniture; in its own sign and accidentally dignified by its joy in the 6th house. Mars is her lifesaver in psychological terms, if she can muster it.
Horary: What is wrong with the young woman? What can be done to help?
The quesited is the turned 5th from the 7th. So, she is signified by Venus in Gemini. Its dispositor, Mercury, gives us the main afflicted organ or system, as well as the type, degree and mode of the humoral imbalance.
We have multiple testimonies corroborating the promises of the natal chart.
Mercury at zero degree of Leo tells us she has an excess of heat and dryness (fire) of about the second degree (out of 4 degrees). The excess is fixed (Leo) meaning that it is a problem that is ingrained and difficult to alter therefore requires correct knowledge and persistent treatment to change and heal. This is not a condition that will go away easily or that one medicine or one treatment modality alone can heal.
The chart is literally saying she has too much fire stuck in her mind and nervous system: Mercury. (Remember that she is a strong choleric and has Mercury inside her natal 6th cusp.)
The chart shows two testimonies indicating there is more to her condition than simply a humoral imbalance. There are hidden factors. One testimony is Mercury’s antiscion on the Pleiades, showing the cause of the problems is clouded, and echoing the prominent position of the Pleiades in the natal chart, right on the Ascendant. The other is Neptune on the radical 4th cusp, pointing at genetic issues inherited from ancestry. This, is corroborated by the natal chart, with Venus (L6) being in the 4th house. (If I could I would ask if she had any similar problems in the family.)
Venus’ last aspect on the horary was a square with the Moon. This shows a major influence in her symptoms. The Moon is her medication (turned 10th from the 11th). The Moon is essentially debilitated (peregrine) and in Venus’ detriment. The medication she is taking is harming her and making her worse. Advice: discuss and pursue alternatives with doctor.
Jupiter, on one level, is genetic problems. On another level it is her L3: “daily routine” therefore: lifestyle. Jupiter is angular and in a sextile with her house cusp so adjustments to her lifestyle will have a strong impact in her condition.
The fire must go somewhere, and where there is a weakness it causes that organ or system to break apart: in her case, her mind and nervous system (Mercury).
Some form of exercise is beneficial in removing fire from her system. Run, ride a bicycle, better yet, row or swim, be near the water which is the opposite of fire. Sedentary life is harmful to anybody, but specially so in cases of excess of fire. Do not spend too much time in the sun, specially exercise; as that will increase fire and it not good in her condition.
Remove heating and drying foods from her diet. No hot spices like peppers or chili, garlic, ginger or peppermint. Minimize drying foods, like pasta, potatoes, most wheat products. Add cooling and moisturizing foods. Add watermelon, chamomile tea, mango, salads, cucumber. (I was told she eats wasabi by the spoon!) Talk about self-undoing!

Practice short sessions of fiery activities. Archery. Martial arts. Sexual activity of some kind. These are examples of removing fire with fire. It has to be short. Prolonged heating activities are harmful.
It stands to reason that suicidal thoughts refer to a condition of deep lack of satisfaction or enjoyment. Pleasure is important.
Since we are dealing with the mind, an intentional and directed intellectual activity that exercises and strengthens rationalism and/or creativity would be beneficial. Find a way to redirect her OCD into something useful and/or enjoyable, instead of squashing or sedating it. Writing of some kind could be helpful, if there is a desire for it exists. She has fire in his mind. It must be directed or else it fills the mind with random explosive thoughts.
Sedation will not heal her. Except for mild sedation to help sleep at night; or else fire will bug her even in sleep. Fire must be directed to a creative purpose.
Venus is on the star Bellatrix: the female warrior. Finding something healthy or noble to fight for could be beneficial. That goes totally in line with her natal Lord of the Geniture: Mars.
There we have it. A number of common-sense measures based on a simple piece of information: fire. If she can try some for long enough it may alleviate her symptoms and create some space for healing.
